Pepper's Story...
Hi. I’m Pepper. I’m a 3 year old all black flat-coated retriever mix. My family didn’t want me anymore and brought me to the shelter. I am a tall, lean boy, but I only weigh 51 pounds. For several days after I arrived I was very scared and wouldn’t even come near people. Then, I was neutered and kind of “out of it.” Now that I'm settled in, I am one of the staff favorites here. I've evolved into a sweet, loving dog who is easy-going on a leash and just a joy to be around. My long black hair is very handsome and my sweet brown eyes are always saying, "Take me out for a walk, please!" I am housetrained, neutered and good with people and other dogs. Perhaps you could come spend some time with me and see for yourself what a terrific companion I could be!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Pepper, a Huntingdon Flat-Coated Retriever/Collie dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Flat-Coated Retriever/Collie for sale in Huntingdon, or seeking a Flat-Coated Retriever/Collie dog from a breeder in Huntingdon.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Huntingdon already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Huntingdon breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Flat-Coated Retriever/Collie breeders who help with Flat-Coated Retriever/Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Huntingdon paves the way for another one to be saved.
