My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Misty looks like a wolf with Siberian bi-eyes - one blue and one brown - and a happy smile. She weighs about 75 lbs. on a big frame so we think she is a mix with Malamute or German Shepherd. According to the shelter, Misty was about 5 years old when she was turned in after living with an older lady who became unable to care for her. We estimate she is really closer to 10 years old. When she first came into foster care she didn’t know what to do with a dog bed to lie on, but once she figured it out she really took to it. Like many senior Sibes Misty is easy to care for because she is so calm and laid back, and she likes her routine to be quiet and orderly, but she also loves her walks and is easy to walk on lead with no pulling.

Misty is a sweet girl. She won’t jump on you or the furniture, and she won’t climb into your lap, but if people are sitting down Misty will make sure she is at your feet to keep you company. She is house trained and trusted to be out of her crate when home alone during the workday. Misty also knows some basic commands like sit and give paw. Misty is happy to be brushed and we were able to bathe her with little effort. She also takes treats very politely and loves having a bone to chew on.

Misty is tolerant of children but her laid back personality would probably be best suited for a home without young kids running around. Misty is particular about which other dogs she will get along with. Despite being a senior, her favorite other dogs to live with were a couple of high energy, 1-year old male Siberians who she loved to play and run with. Misty would probably be happiest as an only dog, however, if she decides she likes another dog she could be part of a two dog household. Like many Sibes she is not safe with cats.

Misty has a mild seizure disorder which is being controlled with liquid potassium bromide, an inexpensive medication. (She will take anything you offer if it’s wrapped in cream cheese.) Otherwise, Misty is generally in good health. She is spayed and is current on all shots.
Due to the Siberian Husky's high prey drive
we do not recommend this breed in a home with cats or other
small pets.
