My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Look into my eyes . . . I am getting sleepy . . . Oops! not working . . . YOU are suppose to be getting sleepy, not me! Ronan is a very trusting and friendly guy, happy to meet anyone who comes along. You would never know that he came from a neighborhood where his brother was found with a bullet wound! He is quick to jump in your lap and enjoys perching on the sofa right behind your head. He is playful, likes other cats, loves to be petted in whatever fashion you can accommodate him and enjoys many kinds of toys. Happy-go-lucky Ronan is oh-so-happy to be off the streets. Can he come to your house? Ronan was born in spring 2009.

Ronan has tested positive for FIV but is very healthy and on no medication. FIV is not communicable to humans, dogs or other species. FIV+ cats are not sick. FIV is a virus that causes their immune systems to be compromised, but is not an illness itself. FIV+ cats' life expectancies are not significantly shorter than other cats that do not have FIV. With good care, they can live as long as any other cat. Adopting an FIV+ cat, does not mean that you will be spending more money on medical expenses than a non positive cat. FIV is usually transmitted from one cat to another by fighting among males that have not been neutered. Normal playing, or even the occasional skirmish, is highly unlikely to cause infection.

If you are interested in learning more about Ronan, or FiV please contact Toni McNaughton at tonimcn@rcn.com or 312.855.1225, or Lisa Ward at eward@spencerstuart.com.

We are always in need of foster homes. If you are not able to adopt, but are interested in fostering or know someone who might be, we would love to hear from you! Please contact Toni McNaughton at tonimcn@rcn.com or Lisa Ward at eward@spencerstuart.com to learn more.
