Hounds for the Holidays: Orion's Story...
Orion and his three siblings were being given away to passersby outside a shopping center when the Dixie Pet Underground Railroad took them into rescue. Orion is about 1 year old and has a heart of gold. His new family will need to be patient with him and understanding as he learns his manners and house-training. He is a smart puppy and will learn quickly, but will need to time to learn about what it's really like to be part of a human family. Orion gets along well with other dogs, cats and all people and is great with children. Orion would make a wonderful companion for an individual or would quickly fit into a large family. Orion is available for a reduced adoption fee through Jan. 1, 2011 as part of our Hounds for the Holidays adoption program. Hounds for the Holidays dogs can be adopted for $25 through our Local Adoption Program with an approved adoption application.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Hounds for the Holidays: Orion, a Cleveland Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Cleveland, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Cleveland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Cleveland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Cleveland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Cleveland paves the way for another one to be saved.
