My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet our favorite frizzle faced little girl - Rose! Mother of the R puppies, Rose was rescued from a rural Idaho shelter in terrible shape - starved, matted, and covered with infected sores from imbedded burrs - with 12, yes, 12, tiny puppies in tow. The future for this darling little Bearded Collie (cousin of the Border Collie) and her litter was not looking bright, so WBCR stepped in to help. After a long battle to regain their health, the puppies are now all weaned and off to new homes - and it's Rose's turn to find a family to call her own!

Although she came into rescue a very shy and underconfident little lass, Rose has come a long way and is also feeling 200% better. After gaining some much-needed weight, she is now about 35 pounds. Rose has gained confidence too, and is proving to be a super bright and lively character, full of energy and curiosity. She's politely friendly – but not gushingly so - when meeting new people...instead, she saves all her affection for her family. She will bond strongly to her people, and loves to be with them. She's equally polite but reserved with new dogs (although she will stand her ground with pushy and obnoxious dogs), but is really playful with her doggy friends and holds nothing back when the game is on with her familiar canine buddies! Rose is just about a year and a half old, and now finally free to act like the pup she is - she loves squeaky toys and stuffed Kongs and bones, and will fetch a bit. She likes to play with her toys and will pick up one toy after another and run with it to a special place to play – then moves on to the next one. Silly Rose will also wriggle around on the floor, rubbing her head on her bed or on the floor, splaying her back legs out like a frog!! She loves to run run run, too, and looks like a hopping bunny when she does! Like a lot of sheepdogs, Rose is very interested in and reactive to movement, such as that of cats, wildlife, and sometimes cars; she also tends to be nippy when excited and chasing, and because of this she will not be placed in a home with cats or kids. Rose is a higher than average energy girl who will need considerable vigorous exercise daily. Once her needs are met she certainly knows how to relax and enjoy the comforts of home – and belly rubs, of course! She'd love to live with an active family, and shows agility potential as well. Rose will thrive with an adopter who will also engage and challenge her mind, as well as exercise her, as she is one VERY clever girl.

That's right, little Rose is QUITE the Smarty Pants...and is very aware of her environment. Like a lot of sheepdogs, Rose likes to stay busy, and if you aren't ready to direct her, be ready for some puppy mischief!! Fortunately, Rose is very food motivated, eager to learn, and catches on quickly. She's already housetrained and cratetrained, and knows a few of the basics. She has excellent recall in non-distracting environments and checks in when off-leash. Her fuzzy wuzzy coat is just the cutest but will definitely require frequent grooming - which she tolerates like a champ!! Rose will really benefit from adopters who will continue with her training and broaden her horizons - she can still be under-confident out in the world.

All in all Rose is a delightful little fuzzy lass who has come a long way, and we expect her to continue to blossom in the coming months. If you love an impish pup that is filled with character, oozing with potential, and always looking for fun - Rose will be sure to wiggle her way into your heart!

Rose is spayed, fully vetted and living in a loving foster home near Jackson, WY.
