Samantha's Story...
I seriously don’t know how the sweetest dogs in the world end up in rescue…Do you? I mean, I may be THE sweetest dog in the world…and I’m a perfect age…the perfect size…who would give me up? Oh well, I’m probably better off. I sure am glad I’m here! I was stuck in a rural shelter, a real high kill area…scary…It was like that prison house scene from the first Rambo! Ok, so I am being a bit dramatic, the folks where real nice there and all, but it was no place for an adorable sweetheart like me, that’s for sure. In fact, any shelter at all is no place for me! I’m great with other dogs, and I don’t think I’d have any problem sharing my home with any age children…I’m just that sweet! I know X-mas is almost here…and heck, by the time you read this X-mas will probably even have past…but still, wouldn’t I make a mighty fine gift for the fam? 1 year old-37lbs. My adoption fee is $200 and includes; spay, microchip, reduced cost Training Class, free veterinary exam, 1 month pet health insurance, leash/collar, food sample, toy & Treat packet.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Samantha, a Portland Australian Shepherd dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Australian Shepherd for sale in Portland, or seeking a Australian Shepherd dog from a breeder in Portland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Australian Shepherd breeders who help with Australian Shepherd rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portland paves the way for another one to be saved.
