Shiraz's Story...
Meet Shiraz! Shiraz is a gorgeous little female shorthaired tortoiseshell who was born on Feb 3, 2009, making her now 4 years old.

Shiraz is a real diva who loves nothing more than receiving attention from people. She will gently insinuate herself between you and whatever is taking your attention from her, whether it is another animal, a guest or a book. She gets along with other cats but is reluctant to share her people with them, so would do best in a home as an only cat, or one where there are lots of people around to fawn over her. She also loves to play fetch with her foam balls and adores having her belly rubbed while being held like a baby in your arms.
Shiraz enjoys and gets along wonderfully with children.

Shiraz is available for adoption through Grand River All Breed rescue. Her adoption donation is $165. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated as part of their adoption. Please fill out an application at our website You can also reach us by email at

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Shiraz, a Cambridge Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Cambridge, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Cambridge.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Cambridge already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Cambridge breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Cambridge paves the way for another one to be saved.
