My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Murphy is a dignified and handsome gentleman, about four years old. His coat is soft and fluffy, light gray with white trim. Under the fluff, his physique is big and buff, but his manners are dainty and refined. His eyes are enormous and green.

Murphy came to us when his one and only person passed away and left no family or friends who were able to care for him. His sweet little lady had doted on him, and life was quiet and consistent. The loss and upheaval was very upsetting for Murphy, but he's feeling much better now, and is ready to meet his forever special person. He has had cat roommates since he's been with us, and Murphy has made it very clear that he wants to be the only cat in his forever home. Because Murphy is most at ease in a calm environment with a consistent routine, he will also appreciate a home without the energy of dogs and young kids.

Although Murphy has a longhair coat, he sheds very little and he does a very good job of keeping himself groomed. A light daily combing is all that's necessary to keep him looking fine. He enjoys a little bit of play time every day, which he does in his gentle, elegant way. What he wants most of all is a lap where he is welcome to nap, at great length if possible. He will look up and give a subdued meow to let you know he's ready for lap time, and then he'll give a nuzzle, head bump and kiss on the nose before he settles in, to let you know he's grateful for the companionship and the warm lap.

Murphy needs time to adjust to new people and things, so he's not the kind of cat who will rush out to greet visitors. But if they stay and sit quietly for awhile, he'll observe carefully with those gorgeous green eyes, and when he's seen enough to be comfortable, he will approach and want to be introduced. Murphy has no litter box issues, he doesn't scratch the furniture, and he doesn't whine or beg for food. Murphy's needs are very simple, and in return he has a lot of love to share with the lucky family who takes him home.

Murphy, like all ARCF cats for adoption, has been neutered, microchipped, is up to date on vaccines, and has tested negative for FeLV and FIV.
