Jake's Story...
Jake is a big boy! He is true to what a Saint should be. He's mushy, cuddly and easy going with other dogs. He may be fine with cats well. Jake could use some leash work and would benefit from obedience training. He's such a nice boy and there's a lot of him to love!

All dogs at our shelter have been started on a vaccination program, de-wormed, screened for heartworm and started on heartworm preventative, treated with Advantage for fleas, spayed/neutered and microchipped. The adoption fee for a dog is $140. If you are a PA resident, you will also be required to purchase a dog license. There are 2 licensing options : annual licenses are $6.50 and are renewable every January. Lifetime licenses are $31.50 and never need to be renewed.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Jake, a Honesdale St. Bernard dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a St. Bernard for sale in Honesdale, or seeking a St. Bernard dog from a breeder in Honesdale.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Honesdale already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Honesdale breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even St. Bernard breeders who help with St. Bernard rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Honesdale paves the way for another one to be saved.
