Emmy's Story...
Emmy - is an absolute doll! It's hard to believe anyone would give up this four year-old purebred girl. But after her old family got a new puppy, she ended up in a shelter. Poor girl! She is as sweet as they come and just loves people. Emmy is playful outside, but settles down right away when she comes in. She follows her foster mom from room to room during the day and always has a look on her face like, "So, what are we doing next?" Emmy is housebroken and trustworthy alone in the house. She gets along well with her labbie foster sister and her four foster children, the youngest being 2 years old. We are not sure about cats. Emmy is working on not jumping up on new people, but other than that, she has good house manners. Emmy weighs 50-55 lbs. and has been spayed. Her shiny black coat is extra soft, making it hard to stop petting her, which is just fine with Emmy. Getting attention from her people is what she loves best. Emmy is truly an awesome dog and her foster family would keep her in a heartbeat if they could. Emmy is spayed, heartworm negative, up to date on vaccinations including rabies and micro-chipped. She is also on flea and tick preventative and heartworm preventative. If you would like to be the lucky family to snatch her up, please fill out the application and write "Emmy" in the notes section.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Emmy, a Salem Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Salem, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Salem.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Salem already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Salem breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Salem paves the way for another one to be saved.
