My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"EMERALD"
Male Eclectus
fostered by Curtis S. of Pinellas County, FL

Emerald is a five year old male Eclectus and has lived with the same family all five years of his life. He has been well taken care of and pampered, but he became attached to the wife and became very protective of her around the husband and dog and would scream and attempt to bite. He has been in rescue for two weeks now and has done very little screaming and not much biting at all, however, this behavior would need to be carefully watched and the family who adopts him, will need to be careful to make sure he is played with, cared for and fed by all members of the family so as not to create a tight bond with just one person. He was on a diet of eggs, greens, broccoli slaw, fruits and veggies, but we have added some pellets to his diet and is enjoying them. He has a clean bill of health from the vet and as you can see, is in perfect feather and is just beautiful! He doesn’t speak very often, but when he does he will say “Hey Baby”. He is a little hand shy, but once on a still hand, will sit comfortably. He seems to get nervous when numerous people are in the room with him and he doesn’t like to be locked in his cage for long periods of time, so it is best he be in a home with someone who is around a lot or can take him to work with them. Emerald will be a very sweet bird for the right owner!
