My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Roxie is a 5 year old fawn female with natural ears. She is a super sweet girl that has moved around a few times in her life. She spent the first 4 1/2 years of her life with one family, but unfortunately her owner passed away. Due to the family health issues, she was quite neglected by the time she made it to her last family with double ear infections and a yeast infection in both of her eyes. Her new family spayed her and took care of her medical issues, however, they were forced to surrender her to rescue when they became overwhelmed with family issues, and then found a tumor in one of Roxie's mammary glands. Within a week of being surrendered to MAGDRL she had a medium-sized carcinoma removed from one mammary gland. This tumor was almost certainly a result of being spayed so late in her life. She is now cancer-free. Roxie also has a minor incontinence issue which is corrected by daily inexpensive pills (proin). Despite all of her medical issues, Roxie is the sweetest dog we have ever met. She's very submissive and a bit skittish around new people or objects, but she warms up quickly and becomes quite the leaner. She adores being in a pack – she loves our two pugs and enjoyed having a 4th dog visitor over the holidays. She follows the little dogs around everywhere. She has happily met many dogs in our neighborhood – the only type of dog she seems to actively dislike is overly jumpy dogs. She was not fond of a Boston Terrier jumping on her face. Roxie would most enjoy a household with at least one other mellow dog. She likes our cat as well. Roxie's forever home must be willing to continue her incontinence medicine and to stay on top of physical exams. The type of carcinoma that she had could appear in her other nipples and it must be removed surgically if that happens.
