My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi ya'all! I'd like you to meet little Betsy Mae! She arrived at a local shelter as a "stray at large", so not much is known about her previous life. Betsy Mae is a 6 to 8 year old, 14 pound female Rat Terrier. Although some might think Betsy is getting on in years, you'd better think again! She has more energy than dogs half her age, and the personality to go with it! Betsy's most favorite past time is "fetch", and she'll even let you know when she'd like to play by nudging your hand with her fetch-toy-of-choice. Betsy promptly brings the toy back, but we're having to work on "drop" - which she currently does at her leisure. She has wonderful house manners, including potty training. What Betsy loves second best in the whole world is walks. Any sign of a leash and she's raring to go! Betsy walks very nicely on her leash and is happy to trot beside her human. She plays well with other dogs, although she doesn't pick up on the "social cues" of other dogs, so a dog that is defensive of their personal space would not do well with Betsy. Also, at some point in Betsy Mae's life she was debarked, but that doesn't mean she doesn't have a lot to say! She just says it in a very unique, muted voice. Betsy loves to show her voice off when you ask her to sit and speak! Betsy is OK with the resident cat at her foster home, but does love to chase him when he runs - so she might do best in a home with no cats. She has not spent much time around kids since being in foster-care, but because she likes to jump up she may do better with children 8 years and older. Betsy Mae is adorable in photos, but you must meet her in person to see the full scope of her "adorableness"!
