My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*******IMPORTANT****** IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ONE OF OUR DOGS PLEASE VISIT OUR WEBSITE AND FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION. AFTER WE HAVE AN APPLICATION ON FILE WE WILL COMMUNICATE SPECIFICS ABOUT THAT PARTICULAR DOG. WE ARE A SMALL RESCUE, OVERWHELMED BY THE NUMBER OF DOGS WE HAVE IN OUR FOSTER PROGRAM AND ARE UNABLE TO ANSWER OR CALL UNTIL WE HAVE AN ADOPTION APPLICATION.
Lucy will be joining our rescue in mid February after making a long trip from Iowa. Thanks to volunteers and On the Road transport volunteers. Lucy needs to come to Georgia because all the English Bulldog rescues in the midwest are full after taking in 15 English Bulldogs from a puppy mill. GEBR is very very glad to help, particularly to help Lucy.
Lucy escaped from a very abusive home and found her way to animal control, very emaciated, ill, with eye infections and mammary tumors. In this small town her owners were known and also were known to have 2 other bulldogs. A wellness check found a second male to be in similar condition. The third dog wasn't as lucky, her dead body was found under a table outside. Both animals were confiscated and taken to the Humane Society. Yes, the owners were charged. To make matters worse, there was also evidence of abuse. On further investigation, it was found that the owners eight children regularly beat and mistreated the dogs.
Initially Lucy and her brother were very reactive to other dogs and very very fearful of children. The dog aggression has improved after being in a stable environment but the fear of children can turn aggressive. Lucy is now able to attend Community events with the Humane Society. Not being able to find a suitable home in the rural area, Lucy asked for a transfer south. Her brother was adopted.
Lucy has been rehabilitated slowly over the last 3 months. After gaining weight, she underwent cherry eye surgery and spay. She also underwent removal of the Mammary tumors, they were not cancerous. She does suffer from the occasional ear infection, something that will resolve after being placed on a high quality grain free food. She is UTD on shots.
*******Lucy will only be adopted to a home without other dogs and ABSOLUTELY NO CHILDREN!!!!!!!!!!!**********
