Hi all, Please meet Maddie. She is a lab mix and was rescued from a high-kill shelter.
Maddie is a cute little (46 pound) 6 year old chocolate lab/pit mix. She was rescued from a shelter because they thought she was pregnant, but it turned out she was in heat. Her foster was going to name her love bug because she loves to be cuddled and loves to be petted. She is very smart and she learned her name within the first hour she had her. Her foster lives on an acre of land and she never left her side. She worked with her a bit and she learned to come to Maddie. She loves to go on walks. Her foster used a harness because she had some sore around her neck from being tied up or from having a collar on way too tight. She is a quiet, mellow girl who just loves attention. As you can see by the one picture, Maddie loves an afternoon ride in the car. She needs to learn how to be a dog...she was probably tied up her entire life and dog deserves that fate. Maddie deserves a chance at a happy loving home where she can get all the belly rubs her little tummy desires!

She will probably chase a cat. Older children would be best. We are looking for a home where she can come inside and be part of the family. If you are interested in meeting Maddie, please contact Charlene at for an adoption application.

Maddie is spayed, current on vaccinations (Rabies, bortella, dhpp) and heartworm negative. She will be micro chipped before her adoption is finalized. Adoption fee and home inspection apply.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Maddie, the love bug, a Sacramento Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Sacramento, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Sacramento.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Sacramento already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Sacramento breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Sacramento paves the way for another one to be saved.
