Here's what the humans have to say about me:
My name is Ariel, and I am really worried that you won't look at my bio because my eyes are not as pretty right now as all the other beautiful beagles here. But even though I might look sleepy, grumpy, and old in my photos, those are the very last words anyone would use to describe me! I am a really a very happy, friendly, loving, lively, and playful little girl….but I have been having a pretty rough time with my eyes. I was born with entropion, which is an inherited condition that makes my eyelids fold in so that my bottom eyelashes are rubbing on my eyes, and it hurts a lot :(
I got lost and was staying at animal control when the BREW people first heard about me, and they took me straight to the vet to have my eyes looked at and fixed. The vet said I had some of the worst eyes he had ever seen! I had surgery right away but I also had ulcers on both of my eyes that hurt a lot and took some time to heal. Even though my stitches are out and my eyes have healed now, the entropion in my eyes is so bad that I need one more surgery for it to be fixed all the way so I don't keep getting ulcers in my eyes.
My foster mom and my vet are amazed at what a happy, brave girl I am even though my eyes have been hurting so much. So far, my favorite things to do in my foster home are racing with the other dogs in the yard and snuggling with my foster mom for belly rubs (I want the belly rubs and snuggling to go on forever!). I am nice to the cats in my foster home and I am even house trained already. I will be looking for my forever home once I have my next surgery, but in the meantime, I know that BREW could really use some help paying for all the special work that I need for my eyes. I will send some more pictures and an update after my next surgery, and if you have any questions about me, please let the BREW folks know.
