My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**Please note: we do not have a physical location, we are supported by a network of wonderful foster homes that are spread throughout New England. A dog will need to be visited by a prospective adopter in the foster home where they are feeling safe and comfortable.**

Cooper is a handsome, young, Black Lab mix who was recently rescued. He is estimated to be about 12 months old. As you can see from these pictures - he is a doll - who has soulful eyes and a loving personality!

Cooper has had a leg injury and because of this, he has a limp. Don't let that fool you, though, as it does not slow this guy down!

Here is a note from his foster: "Just wanted to give you a quick update on Cooper. He is settling in quite nicely. No concerns regarding his eating or activity level. He slept peacefully through the night in his kennel. We took him on a nice long walk today and he did great on the leash. He appears to know the sit command pretty well and is overall a super sweet dog. He has been interested in meeting our cats, unfortunately our cats are not yet interested in meeting him. I am impressed with how cool he is about many things - he's experienced a hair dryer, vacuum, and other noises without getting upset. He is an absolutely wonderful pup! He has such a great personality and temperment.

"Sooper Cooper" has been enjoying his squeaky toys and his Nylabone. Although he and the cats are working toward friendship, they aren't quite there yet. He's been very patient with them and tries hard to give them the space that they need. Cooper has also met my 3 year old nephew, and was terrific with him! My nephew enjoyed the "Cooper kisses" and Cooper was happy to follow him around the house for a while. He is extremely well behaved whenever company comes over - there isn't a mad dash for the door or jumping on the newcomers! He continues to do well with other dogs and has made friends with our neighbor's dog.

He enjoys nice long walks on the more mild days and is happy to curl up in front of the fire or play inside on the colder days."

Cooper continues to be a super dog. Over the weekend, we went to visit with our friends who have two dogs and Cooper was in heaven! He loved playing with the other pups and did a great job sharing their toys! He was certainly not a dominant pup, and really enjoyed his time running around with the others. He has continued to enjoy his daily walks and does really well on his leash. He knows the sit, down, come, off, leave it, and paw commands quite well. We are working on stay - he is quite easy to train as he is extremely food-motivated. He also does great when my three year old nephew comes to visit. To be honest, he has done extremely well in every situation he's been exposed to - including a slightly uncomfortable visit with the vet. His health is great - his energy level has increased, but he is not off the wall either. He does great in his crate. What else is there to say...he's wonderful!"

We would love to find Cooper a home with a family who will cherish him. Please visit our web site to find out about our adoption process.
