PORTIA's Story...
PLEASE READ THIS PROFILE AND THE REQUESTED CRITERIA BEFORE CALLING OR SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND CONSIDERATION

THIS IS PORTIA....a 4-5 yr old, 13 lb, sweet as sugar Maltipoo, who hails from the Bakersfield Shelter. When we first saw the pictures of this little lady, we were told she was a Lhasa...but someone butchered her hair by the time we got her, so she looks more like a Maltipoo to us! Portia is a little blonde bombshell! She apparently has been bred several times...and she has a few cysts from breeding that will be removed when she is spayed...but she is none worse for the wear. She is just a happy girl to be in a warm, cozy home, with lots of love and snuggles. Portia loves the company of her human, but could do without her roommates -- she is fine with them but does not particularly like others in her face. She does not fight or quarrel...you just know that she would prefer to be your one and only! She has wondeful manners -- she will sit when asked and stay. She does want to follow you everywhere and will give you kisses to let you know she's your girl!! She would be fine with kids over 8 yrs old. We think she should be in a home that will walk her several times a day, as she needs the exercise! While she is not fat, she probably has a slow metabolism!!! She's not a huge eater....just sturdy and well fed! This girl would be great in a mature home -- or with a family who wants a sweetheart of a dog as a companion! She is a winner!!

Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, groomed, vet checked, dewormed, deflea'd and come with a leash, collar and ID tag!

Please do call us if you are coming to see a particular dog to make sure he/she will be at adoptions (we do not bring sick dogs to our adoption events). Please bring a copy of your application and pictures of your home and yard if we have not done a home check! Most importantly, if you have a dog, make sure you bring him or her to do a compatibility match with the dog you are interested in adopting!!! And don't forget to check out our Events Calendar for more information on events we may be doing! See our home page for more details about our adoptions at Lhasa Happy Homes.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

PORTIA, a Los Angeles Maltese/Poodle (Miniature) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Maltese/Poodle (Miniature) for sale in Los Angeles, or seeking a Maltese/Poodle (Miniature) dog from a breeder in Los Angeles.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Los Angeles already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Los Angeles breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Maltese/Poodle (Miniature) breeders who help with Maltese/Poodle (Miniature) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Los Angeles paves the way for another one to be saved.
