Keanu's Story...
Keanu is a 6 week old Shepherd/Chow/Rottie mix. He came to us from a high-kill pound in Gary, IN with his mama, Missy, when he were just a week old.

Keanu is a typical puppy - loves to play, cuddle, eat, and sleep. He is up to date on vaccines and dewormed. Keanu will be ready for adoption by March 12, 2011. We are accepting applications so we have homes ready for them at that time. If you are interested in Keanu, please contact Angela, our Canine Adoption Coordinator, at a_duffek@rornfp.org for more info. Please note, we do not have a building, so there are no "viewing hours". Please email for an application as our volunteers may not be able to return your call promptly. Thank you.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Keanu, a Oak Lawn German Shepherd Dog/Chow Chow puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog/Chow Chow for sale in Oak Lawn, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog/Chow Chow puppy from a breeder in Oak Lawn.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Oak Lawn already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Oak Lawn breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog/Chow Chow breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog/Chow Chow rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Oak Lawn paves the way for another one to be saved.
