Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.
If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website http://www.livingwithkidsanddogs.com. The information is excellent and can help you determine which dog would be right for your family.
Butterscotch is a purebred miniature poodle who lost his home when the family started doing daycare. Ten kids 2 and under were just too much for him! He is 9.5 years old and weighs 15 pounds. Butterscotch is in excellent health and poodles are very long-lived breeds. He is one of the friendliest, happiest dogs we've ever met. Butterscotch is fine with older, respectful kids, other small dogs and cats, although he is fine being an only pet also. His absolute favorite place to be is in someone's lap and if anyone comes over to visit him he jumps happily into their lap for a little lovin'. He is dependably house trained, doesn't need to be kenneled, and is a very easy keeper. Butterscotch would really enjoy a home with a young retiree or someone who works from home so he could get in lots of lap time and some walks too. He is quiet and could do very well in an apartment or condo. His adoption fee is $225.00. This barely covers his full vetting. He is neutered, just had a full dental with several extractions, shots, worming, grooming and HomeAgain microchip.
To ensure that this dog thrives in his new home and that the adoption works out for the dog and your family, these are the requirements for adoption. These criteria are not negotiable. If you do not meet these criteria, please choose another dog that will work out better for your family.
• Homeowners: Apartment or condo is fine
• Status of adopter: Mature adult
• Previous dog owning experience: Preferred
• Age of children: Teens and adults
• Another dog in the home: Not required
• Cat(s) in the home: Fine with cats
• Fenced yard: Not required if taken for walks
• Time alone on work days: He would be fine alone but would be sad so someone home more is strongly preferred.
