Ophelia's Story...
This petite girl was found as a stray and at first, she seemed quite feral and would hiss and spit whenever we approached her. But with the help of our loyal volunteers, she’s slowly coming around and now will greet visitors at the front of the cage and welcomes human contact. While she still has a ways to go, she is definitely getting friendlier every day. Ophelia would do best in a home with another feline and with a patient owner who’s an experienced cat person.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Ophelia, a Brooklyn American Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Shorthair for sale in Brooklyn, or seeking a American Shorthair cat from a breeder in Brooklyn.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Brooklyn already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Brooklyn breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Shorthair breeders who help with American Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Brooklyn paves the way for another one to be saved.
