My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATED BIO 3/14/11 – Pixie is a 9 month old, 6 lb adorable Maltese Yorkie mix – a Morkie! She has been in her foster home about a week, and is proving to be a loving, affectionate and well-behaved little girlie – well, for a puppy! She is a curious little girl who loves being in her backyard and her daily trips to the dog park, where she has yet to meet a dog she doesn’t like – whether it’s a Chihuahua or a Labrador. She also loves the kitties in the house and plays with them when they are in the mood. She loves to play fetch whether at home or the dog park, and is remarkably good at running after her toys, bringing them back, and relinquishing them to they get thrown again. Pixie has a grand time at night playing “catch the hand” with her foster dad and is just adorable when she stalks her “prey”! She seems to be fairly house-trained in so far she uses pee pad or goes outside – however her foster mom has noticed some wet spots on the throw carpets and she is not sure which dog to attribute it to. Pixie is not a big barker, but when her foster brothers bark, she is right behind them in chiming in. She also is demanding in trying to get her foster brothers to play with her – she barks at them until someone starts playing! Previously, Pixie had not walked on a leash and her foster mother is slowly introducing her to a leash – she now walks to and from the car freely at her house, and while she walks a bit at the dog park on her leash she still freezes. This leash training will be an ongoing process that may take several months for her to accept and for now, we are going at a slow rate as not to spook her or think it is a bad experience. Pixie follows her foster mom around, but she can be slightly skittish when her foster mom goes to pet her, so she always praises her and bribes her with food. Pixie is good at entertaining herself but she does have a lot of energy, and her foster mother is finding spending a couple of hours at night at the dog park will wear Pixie out! Because of Pixies size, no homes with children under the age of 12 will be considered . Also, since Pixie is used to having other dogs as companions, we are only considering homes with at least one other dog for her to play with. And finally, since Pixie is not great at walking on a leash and she loves playing the back yard, we are looking for an adoptive home to also have a fenced in back yard.
INITIAL BIO 03-08-2011: MEET PIXIE! Pixie is an adorable 9 month old, 6 lb Maltese/Yorkie puppy – a Morkie! Pixie is a small, playful, curious little puppy that gets along with the other Yorkies in the house and seemed to like her first encounter with the one of the household kitties. She uses pee-pads and appears to be completely house trained, although her foster mom is going to try to re-train her so she will pee outside instead. Pixie has only been at her foster moms a couple of hours, but hasn’t yet said a peep – we know though new puppies are on their best behavior their first 48 hours! Pixie is a happy little puppy, but she is cautious of new things and sounds, and still is learning to explore the house and outdoors. She does need to be a little more socialized with new sounds, smells, and objects and she will be going on daily walks and to the dog park to help build her confidence. Pixie has all her shots and is spayed and is will soon be ready to go to her new fur-ever house, so get your applications in! We would like Pixie to have her own fenced in yard where she can go out and play, and also another fur brother or sister for her to play with. Please note though – due to Pixie’s small size, we will not accept applications for children under 12.
