Woody's Story...
Not a Pet Savers' dog, but needs a home asap... Shreveport, La.

Hi! My name is Woody and I am a male, 6 months old, Long Hair Dachshund Red dog. I am a handsome, precious little boy with a glistening coat. I weigh about 10 pounds and am housetrained, not fixed, and not up-to-date on my shots (I am a rescue and shots may be current and I appear very healthy). If you're looking for a great dog, look no further because I know you'll be pleased with me! I have so much love to give and all I need is a chance to show you . . . I have stayed strong and sweet despite possible over-scolding from uncaring previous owner. If you would like to meet me, please call my guardian, Ms. Neely, at 318-639-0039 or email me at There is a screening process to adopt me and my adoption fee is a suggested donation to Pet Savers of $30 for their help in rehoming me and to help assure I go to a good home. Once you adopt me, PLEASE get me spayed/neutered to help control the HUGE overpopulation and euthanasia rate in this area. Robinson's Rescue low-cost Spay/Neuter Clinic (Shreveport) offers special low-cost pricing for spaying and neutering. Call 318-861-0101 for your spay/neuter appointment ONLY, not about me!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Woody, a Haughton Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in Haughton, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in Haughton.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Haughton already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Haughton breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Haughton paves the way for another one to be saved.
