Here's what the humans have to say about me:
My name is Lucy, and I am a 10-month-old, Newfoundland dog. My sister, Suzy, and I had were given up because our human was sick and asked Animatch to find a family to care for us. We are happy to be at the Animatch Centre; we are having lots of fun while we wait for our furever home. My best characteristic is that I am very sweet-tempered. I weigh over 90 lbs. and I will probably weigh about 150 lbs. when I am full grown. My family has to remember that I am still a puppy and I do get into mischief if I am bored. Obedience training is a must for me so that I can be a good canine citizen. Did you know that Newfoundland Dogs were bred to work alongside fishermen as rescue and working dogs? Yup, Newfs used to pull many out of the cold Atlantic waters to safety. Our webbed paws and repellent coat give us amazing swimming abilities. I am really hoping that my new family will make every effort to give me the opportunity to swim – I can’t wait to give it a try. All the Volunteers think that Suzy and I have a sweet temper and gentle nature and that’s because we love people and want be near our people. I am still very young, so a home where I am not left alone all day is a must. I will definitely need lots of brushing and grooming; we Newfs shed a bit (actually, quite a lot but I am so worth the effort). I do tend to slobber a little (well actually, quite a lot; but heck if you love News that won’t bother you). I know that I will miss my sister and best friend, Suzy, when I go to my new home, but having my very own family and a home to call my own will make me happy and content. Not only am I a beautiful dog, but I’m full of personality and I can’t wait to begin my new life. So, please fill in the Adoption Form if you would like to adopt me. The name is LUCY.
