Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.
If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website http://www.livingwithkidsanddogs.com. The information is excellent and can help you determine which dog would be right for your family.
Ole’ is a long haired Chihuahua who was rescued from a family who didn’t want him anymore and planned to euthanize him. Fortunately a caring person decided to foster him, and is now ready for his forever home. Ole is about 7 years old and he weighs 4.4 pounds. He is a very sweet, gentle little boy who enjoys sitting on laps and being petted. His energy level is pretty mellow and he doesn’t bark except to welcome foster parents when they come home. Ole would enjoy an adult home, or one with quiet teens. A retiree would be wonderful for him. He could live with another small dog and he is safe with cats. Ole is frightened of loud voices, so he does need a quiet, peaceful home where he can relax and feel safe. He is trained on a schedule to use puppy pads or newspapers in bad weather. Now that it is nice he is starting to go outside too. Ole is with a 501c3 non-profit rescue. He had no vetting prior to his rescue but he is now neutered, had a full dental, is heartworm negative and on prevention, is up to date on shots and worming, and has a HomeAgain microchip. His adoption fee is $250 which does not cover the cost of his full vet care.
To ensure that this dog thrives in his new home and that the adoption works out for the dog and your family, these are the requirements for adoption. These criteria are not negotiable. If you do not meet these criteria, please choose another dog that will work out better for your family.
