Facts about Emmett

  • Breed: Pony - of America
  • Color: Roan
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Medium
  • Sex: Male
  • ID#: L51
Emmett is 14 years old and about 14.0 hands tall. He is a Pony of the Americas gelding and may be eligible for registration. Emmett was acquired with 64 ponies from a neglect situation in Lewisville, Texas. Emmett has a good mind and a kind heart. He is still learning to trust people, so he works better for people he know than he does for strangers. Even with people he trusts, it sometimes takes a few minutes to catch him. Whether or not Emmett stands for the farrier depends on how much he trusts the farrier. Emmett is very treat oriented – the more treats you give him, the more he likes you!
Emmett is halter-broke, and leads from either side on a loose lead, bathes, ties, fly sprays, and leads over obstacles. Emmett longes well and has been long-lined. He had 20 days of undersaddle training with a professional trainer, and he was green broke to ride. When Emmett was being ridden, he hadn’t yet learned the cues for trotting and cantering, so he did best at the walk. He has also been walked over ground poles and between barrels. However, Emmett has not been ridden in a long time, so he will need an experienced rider/trainer to help him progress in his riding abilities.
Emmett is located in Lucas, TX, and his adoption fee is $350.
Emmett is just one of the ponies from the Lewisville group that are available for adoption. These ponies have great dispositions and will make excellent children's ponies once trained under saddle. About Hope for Horses Equine Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Hope for Horses Equine Rescue was incorporated in 2002 as a horse rescue. In fall of 2006, we began rescuing dogs, also. Since inception, we have successfully placed over 500 horses and 30 dogs. We have also placed several cats. We are a 501(c) 3 non-profit rescue. We are an all volunteer organization, and our funding is primarily from donations and adoption fees.
If you have time or talent or simply wish to help support horses - our organization needs you!! Donations, volunteers, and foster homes are always needed and appreciated.

Come Meet Our Pets...

The rescue's main office is located in Sugar Land, Texas. Most of our animals are located at foster homes. If you would like to meet any of our animals, please email us to set up an appointment.

Our Adoption Process...

Dogs are adopted by completing an adoption application that will be reviewed by our volunteer staff. If potential adopters have a pet, we will check their veterinarian reference. Upon adoption of the dog, an adoption agreement must be signed. The average adoption fee for dogs is $125, but there can be some variation depending on age and status of the dog.
We have two different adoption procedures for horses, depending upon which rescue program the chosen horse is in. These procedures can be found on our website
