Blackie's Story...
Blackie is a 7 year old neutered male Chihuahua. He and his sister Princess were surrendered to a high-kill shelter when their owners had to move and could not bring them with. Blackie is a major couch potato, he loves to play with his sister and enjoys walks on a leash, but is happiest when snuggled up next to someone warm on the couch. He does well with other small dogs and cats, but does need a home without any small children. Blackie would LOVE to find a home that could adopt his sister Princess too, they have been together all of their lives and would like to find a home that could keep it that way.

As of 04/01/2011 dog adoption fees have increased to $200.00

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Blackie, a Jacksonville Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Jacksonville, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Jacksonville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Jacksonville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Jacksonville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Jacksonville paves the way for another one to be saved.
