I can be so sweet, but I am still scared and need some time to fit in. Of course being an African Grey, you might want to pick up a book on us if you haven't any experience. We aren't like the amazons in a lot of ways. We are scared, really scared of everything new, until introduced slowly. Toy's, food, fast movement's, different environments...you name it. So, got to go slow with us. But we are worth it to show you the love and the different things we will be able to say, not just repeat! We can say things in different tones and inflections. I can say "Hungry", probably more, but I am still just shy. As for me, I'm still recuperating from a bad situation where I started to pluck my feather's. My foster mom is trying to get me to change my attention on that, even new toys are scary, but the right vitamins will help. And giving me the opportunity to bathe. My vet says I need vitamin A and calcium, my foster mom gives me those by providing me with certain types of foods and we are working on cottage cheese and yogurt, sweet potatoes and carrots! Still getting used to "bird kibble", but I am kinda liking those "nutriberries"and being outside of my cage. Also, fresh air and natural sunlight is good for me too, foster mom puts me on the screened-in patio for the day! I don't mind other birds or dogs, just at a distance for now please with your supervision! I am about 10 years old and I was born in Hawaii, that's where my name comes from, I'm just saying....
