Slim Bob's Story...
No fat jokes, please! Bob (aka Slim) needs a personal trainer with a sense of humor. He moves around the yard slowly unless he sees a cat, then takes off like a rocket, but Bob is sweet natured and wouldn't know what to do with a cat if he caught one. Make no mistake, this is a seriously overweight dog that should lose close to 15 pounds. That may take a year but, in the meantime, he loves to hang out with you wherever you are. He gets most of his exercise following his foster mom around the house and yard. You would think he is a "foodie;" begging and scarfing his food. Not so. He is a dainty eater and loves carrots as treats.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Slim Bob, a Salem Dachshund/Corgi dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund/Corgi for sale in Salem, or seeking a Dachshund/Corgi dog from a breeder in Salem.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Salem already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Salem breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund/Corgi breeders who help with Dachshund/Corgi rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Salem paves the way for another one to be saved.
