My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sunday, October 30th - Meet Lola and our other adoptable dachshunds at Pet Pride Day 2011 in Golden Gate Park! Booth 17 at Sharon Meadows,11 am to 3 pm

It is a mystery to us why five year old Lola is still in rescue. She is one of most well bred doxies we have had in awhile. She has the lovely big ole dachshund snout, fat paws and short little legs. While she came into rescue with a rough coat and ears, she is now sleek and shiny. Lola is also lovely on the inside. She greets strangers nicely and is always willing to let anyone pet her. She absolutely adores getting attention from humans.

Lola came to us via a shelter where she was surrendered because her family said they could not afford to have her inguinal hernia fixed. We would have more sympathy for them if the hernia hadn't been caused by back to back pregnancies. You would think they could have spent some of the money they made from Lola to help Lola.

Her past bad life left a psychological scar on Lola. She will scream as if in pain if strangers try and pick her up. She does get past this with time as proven by her allowing her foster mom to pick her up whenever she wants. However, Lola will need a new home that will give her a week or so to get comfortable in new digs before trying to pick her up.

We believe Lola would do fine with another doxie or two or as an only dog. No young children as their fast movements will be too scary for her. Lola will not do a flight of stairs. Since she is so low and wide, this is actually a good thing for her back. Lola will need a home on all one level or with just a step or two to the yard.

Lola is housebroken with a doggie door. She is crate trained. Her hernia has been fixed and she was also spayed. Lola is not a big barker. She's a nice 13 lb dog that will make someone very happy

Tax deductible adoption fee of $200. Application available online at www.scdr.org is required.
