Fern's Story...
This little girl, one of our honorary German Shepherds, is Fern. Fern is an adorable, happy, loving and energetic little lady. She was very scared at the shelter but she warms up to new people quickly. She made her long journey to rescue on a volunteer transport with her German Shepherd friend Hank. Fernie enjoys hanging out with big dogs, in particular her friend Riley. She also loves human company, snuggling and being the center of attention. Fernie is very athletic and can jump in people's lap for some snuggling. Fernie weighs around 10 lbs and she is in good shape. Fern is up-to-date on shots, she is spayed and heartworm negative. She is housebroken and crate trained.

Fernie is looking for her very own family that will love and spoil her forever.

Fern can only go to a family with children who are old enough to treat her gently. The adoption begins with the adoption application: we do not have the manpower to respond to detailed inquiries before we receive the application.
We do not have a shelter location, our dogs live in volunteer foster homes and can be met by appointment. Our adoption procedures are described on the home page, please read them carefully. A donation of $275 is required at the time of adoption. If you can offer our little lady Fern a loving forever home, please submit an on-line application by

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Fern, a Baltimore Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Baltimore, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Baltimore.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Baltimore already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Baltimore breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Baltimore paves the way for another one to be saved.
