Rodger's Story...
Please meet Rodger - like Rodger Rabbit! He hops like a rabbit when he runs!!! Rodger is a 10 month old Blue American Pit Bull Terrier.

Rodger came to us as a stray a few months ago - he was very thin and super dirty. With some food, a nice bath, and lots of love, Rodger has really begun to shine! His coat is just amazing and his personality is to match!!

Rodger is great with other dogs and super gentle. He is only 40lbs and will not be a very big boy when he is full grown. The vets feel he was either the runt of the litter or just had very poor nutrition as a pup. Rodger knows sit, stay, paw, and lay down. He is just about housebroken and he is crate trained. Rodger is also great on the leash and rides well in the car - a PRIME example of what the Pit Bull Breed should be!!!!

Rodger is a great boy and just wants a family of his own to enjoy the coming summer days with! He would love to just lay on the beach or on your deck in the sun......

If you are interested in Rodger, please contact Angela, our Canine Adoption Coordinator, at a_duffek@rornfp.org for more info.

Please note, we do not have a building, so there are no "viewing hours". Please email for an application as our volunteers may not be able to return your call promptly. Thank you.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Rodger, a Oak Lawn American Pit Bull Terrier puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a American Pit Bull Terrier for sale in Oak Lawn, or seeking a American Pit Bull Terrier puppy from a breeder in Oak Lawn.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Oak Lawn already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Oak Lawn breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even American Pit Bull Terrier breeders who help with American Pit Bull Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Oak Lawn paves the way for another one to be saved.
