Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Even though I am not officially a beagle, the BREW people think I am so special that they wanted to make sure I find a good home with a family who loves hounds! I am actually a treeing walker coonhound, which means that I have lots of beagle qualities and characteristics, just in a larger package (I weigh 55 pounds - fit & trim, thank you!). I was found as a stray so my past and exact age is a bit of a mystery.
My very best quality is that I am a peaceful dog and I try very hard to avoid conflict. I love other dogs and I promise I will get along with any size or shape dog in your house. If they like to play I might join them, but even if they aren't so sure about new dogs or want to steal my toys I will still try to be friends with them! I am friendly to every person I meet, big and little, and I have the BEST time in the world playing with the teenage kids who come over to my house to visit me.
I LOVE my toys! I love squeaky toys and rubber balls and I like to chase balls in the yard. The only thing I can think of that I don't like at all is the car because it makes my stomach feel really yucky and I get sick every time. But since I hate the car so much, that means that you can go to the beach without me and not feel bad about leaving me home because home is much better than the car :)
I am looking for a home with a physically fenced yard (invisible fencing is probably not a good choice for me). I have made excellent progress on my house training and almost never have accidents anymore (when I first came to my foster home it was a totally new place and I did make mistakes indoors at first). I am in a crate when home alone and a fenced yard where I can be let outside first thing in the morning and right away whenever I come out of my crate will also help me not have accidents indoors.
As loving as I am in soul, I am not a pushy dog and I am comfortable keeping to myself. I don't pester much for attention and I almost never get on the furniture. My one bad habit is jumping on the counter and sometimes on people. I am learning that "off" means I can't have my feet on the counter, and that if I have all four feet (or even just three feet) and my butt on the floor, I will get a treat.
If you are looking for an overall happy dog who tries very hard to be a good boy and does *wonderful* with all people and pets, I would love to meet you and maybe come live with you forever!
