Melvin's Info...

I am already neutered, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.

Melvin's Story...
Melvin and his 4 siblings were born on 3/22/11, when their mother Poppie was already at the shelter. They will all be ready for release around the first week of June. The kittens are doing well, growing big and strong, under the care of their attentive mama kitty; they will all be together until it's time for the kittens to go to their new homes. Our volunteers are socializing the kittens, and these kittens will be fantastic family pets. They will do best in indoor-only homes, as they have never been outside.

We are taking applications for the kittens now, and will preadopt to approved applicants.

Melvin will arrive neutered, wormed, microchipped and with all age-appropriate vaccinations. Adoption fee for Melvin is suggested minimum $58 (more gratefully accepted); discount for pair kitten adoptions!. All kittens are placed with a 3-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts. Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to both the Seattle area and Spokane, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Melvin, a Republic Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Republic, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Republic.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Republic already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Republic breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Republic paves the way for another one to be saved.
