My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Houdini - male, neutered, vaccinate, vet checked, dewormed, tx flea preventative, heartworm tested, 8mos, ~40lbs, Retriever/Shepherd mix.

Houdini is a young dog that is really in need of a second chance. He has spent most of his short life in the pound. He is nervous and unsure of new people and new surroundings but is settling well in his foster home and is bonded nicely with his foster mom and even the kitty that shares the house. He us currently being fostered in the city and is slowly adjusting to the busy sights and sounds. He visits the doggy park often and takes daily walks along the city streets, and though still unsure he is making progress with his patient foster mom to help him along. He seems to be fine with women but is afraid of new men, he needs a lot of time and patience to warm up to men – he’d rather run away or hide behind someone if possible. He does warm up to patient men that are willing to be kind, maybe take him for a walk and just sit down quietly with him. He is crate trained and house trained, he is comfortable in his crate and is crated at night and when left alone. He is able to be left for typical 9-5 work hours without issue. He is used to the kitty he shares his foster home with and he is good with other dogs. We are not sure how he is with kids and due to his insecurity at the moment we feel he’d be better in a home with older, more relaxed and respectful children. Houdini has a very sweet disposition, he is good natured, quiet and gentle. He likes to cuddle and really enjoys attention. We’d love to find him a quieter more mature home that can really help this guy come out of his shell. If you have the time and patience to give Houdini some time please consider adopting him. Though we’d like to see him in a house with a fenced yard he is doing fine in an apartment while he is fostered.
