My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello everyone, my name is Iris and if you have some time I would love to tell you some things about me…

I am a short legged somewhat chubby 6 – 7 year old Beagle. Not much is known about my past other than I was pulled from a shelter in the Illinois area. My foster parents are pretty sure that I had a home at one point since I am familiar with all home related things. I am housed trained, crate trained, love to counter surf and know various commands such as sit, stay and come! I walk well on a leash (for a Beagle) and I also potty on a leash so no fence is required for me. My energy level has been described as medium, and my foster parents informed me that I snore a lot when I sleep.

I am very devoted to the humans in my house. I am sweet with my foster parents, love to spend time with them and constantly look for their approval. Did I mention that one of my favorite things is to sit next to my foster parents on the couch?!?!?! That being said, I must go to a home where I am the only pet. You see, I just do share well when it comes to time with my foster parents or opportunities to grab dropped food (hee, hee). Outside of my home, I am perfectly fine with other dogs and cats. What can I say … I just want to be the princess of my castle!

At some point in my life, I tore my ACL and no one took care of the injury. Unfortunately, I recently re-aggravated this leg, but the good news is that I am not limping or in much pain. The vet said that since the original injury was not immediately taken care of that the best solution for me is physical therapy. I also have a slight heart murmur; however, it is not believed to be life threatening. Although I have a few physical limitations, I act like a perfectly normal dog. It is not uncommon for me to run around the house while playing with toys, and I have no problem getting onto the couch or using the stairs.

I think I have told you almost everything I know about myself. If you are interested in adopting me, please read the note from my foster parents (below), and let the people are BREW that you are interested in me … time to take a nap!!!!

Note from foster home: Iris is a very sweet, loyal and smart dog who LOVES her foster parents. Iris would do best with the following type of home: rescue experienced, only pet, no children and ok with barking. We are certain she will bring a much joy into a home with these particular traits!
