Olive's Story...
Olive is a 12 week old DSH sweet heart! She and her two siblings came to us from a high-kill pound in Chicago. Their mama, Maisy (also on site), was very sick and could not care for them - only 2 days old, these babies had to be bottle fed. They were very sick and the hope of survival was very grim - but to all of our amazement these three angels made it! They are now ready for their fur-ever home.

Olive is WONDERFUL with dogs, cats, and people of all ages. She is very social and needs to be in a home with other animals. Olive is current on vaccines, dewormed, and has been tested negative for FIV/FELV. She will be spayed and microchipped when she is 5-6 months old. Olive is also litter box trained. She is as sweet as they come - but don't let that fool you - she is ALL kitten!!

If you are interested in Olive, please contact Kim, our Feline Adoption Coordinator, at kjayne@rornfp.org for more info.

Please note, we do not have a building, so there are no "viewing hours". Please email for an application as our volunteers may not be able to return your call promptly. Thank you.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Olive, a Oak Lawn Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Oak Lawn, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Oak Lawn.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Oak Lawn already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Oak Lawn breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Oak Lawn paves the way for another one to be saved.
