My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Tayla. My owner acquired me in April 2004. I was her second baby she had adopted Samson two weeks earlier he was her first born. Someone had left me in a hotel parking lot to fend for myself and my owners friend found me at 5 am and knowing she loved dogs, brought me to her. I was a 4 month old ball of fluff! Very cute I might say (and still am). Needless to say, she could not resist me and I became part of the family! However, now her third born has come along a human - and has to go to work and take care of all 3 of us babies by herself and she is a little overwhelmed. We live in a small town house with a small back yard, and it really is too cramped, and my owner wants us to be in a better home so we can have interaction with humans and go for walks and play as right now we are home by ourselves all day, and when she gets home, she feeds us and then it is her bed time so we dont get to go for walks any more.

I am a very unique looking breed. No-one has ever been able to figure out my heritage. I did recently have one of those "DNA" tests and they said I am Labrador/Chow Chow mix. I am a light gold coloring and have brown eyes that melt your heart. I am 7 years old but am extremely healthy, energetic and have a fine athletic build. However, when inside, I quietly sit in my bed and wait for you to decide when you want me close. My owner shaves me in the summer, so that way I dont shed, however if you leave my coat long, you will see how beautiful it is. My owner used to take me jogging before the human baby came along. My adopted brother (Samson) and I would run 3-5 miles no problem. We do great on the leash and are great jogging companions if that is what you like to do. Otherwise, just being able to run around is fine too, or even just a stroll in the neighborhood! I love the water and will go swimming any chance that I get especially in the summer. I am also a pretty good hunter and have been known to catch flying creatures that have found their way into the house. I am very submissive, sweet natured and am not at all demanding I like to snuggle with you but am also happy in my bed by myself. I like company kids, dogs but prefer male dogs to female dogs. My companion of choice is my brother Samson. I can be a little independent I guess like the creature they call a cat. I have not had interaction with a cat as such only when they have come in my yard and I chased them out, but I do fine with the other dogs at the dog park, on the occasions that we get to go. If you want a VERY attractive dog, whose looks will stop people in their tracks, who is athletic, fun, VERY house trained, and submissive to all humans, I am the perfect dog for you!

JULY 2011: Tayla is now in Maine and here is an update: Tayla is doing wonderfully in her Maine foster home. She is learning the "lay of the land" amd the pack order with her new temporary family. Tayla absolutely loves the cats in her foster family. She will lay as close to them as she can and watch them. The cats don't pay much attention to her but she is facinated by them! She has had a bath and nail trim so far, and Tayla is an absolute sweetheart. She sleeps all night in her dog bed. What a good girl!

We would love to find her a loving home in the northeast. Please visit our web site here to find out about our adoption process.

Thank you for considering rescue!

**Please note: we do not have a physical location, we are supported by a network of wonderful foster homes that are spread throughout New England. A dog will need to be visited by a prospective adopter in the foster home where they are feeling safe and comfortable.**
