Hi! My name is Lieutenant, but they call me Louie. I am an 8 years old, 21 pound, very well mannered, housebroken Shih Tzu guy, who is in extemely good health and looking for the right family. I don't particularly like toddlers, but I love children that are a little older. The don't poke my eyes or pull my tail and ears.
My original owner was in the service and, when he had to go overseas, his wife took me to the vet and asked for me to be put down. Fortunately, the vet said NO. The home he found for me had a nice lady, but the "gentleman" yelled a lot and kicked at me - I really didn't like that!
My foster Mom and Dad are taking good care of me, but they already have three rescue dogs of their own. I like to lay beside you on the sofa but don't need to be held or picked up. I sleep in my crate at night and don't even need the door closed. I love to run outside and like to play "catch me if you can." I stay close to the house and I'm easy to catch. I walk well on a leash and really enjoy the daily walks with my foster brothers and sister.
During a grooming session a few years ago the groomer cut me (at a very sensitive spot for all males!), so I now need sedation to be groomed. I also don't like someone coming at my face with a towel. My foster Mom took me to the vet because my eyes were a little crusty. I didn't care for them trying to put drops in my eyes. So mom figured out that she could come up behind me, hold out a treat so I would look up and drip the drops from above - NO Problem!
