My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Catz Jazz Rescue assists as many unfortunate & abandoned cats as possible, while advocating the message of compassion towards animals and responsible pet ownership. Catz Jazz strives to be one of the best Austin cat rescue operations by providing comfort & care for each and every animal coming into our rescue with consideration of their individual situations. Our goal is to find life-long companions for the rescued cats in our care.

Read about Einstein: Einstein was rescued from the pound where he had been dumped as a stray.

This sweet boy has had a bit of a rough start to life indicated by some scars he already has and a couple rips to his ears from some previous painful encounter, so he could use some TLC in the form of a devoted family to spoil him and love him dearly.

Einstein is a laid back sweetie who has never met anyone he didn't like. He has a very calm disposition and one of his most endearing qualities is that he is cross eyed so when he looks at you with that angelic face, he brings a smile to you instantly. You can't help but love this little guy.

Please ONLY CONTACT us about Einstein if you are TRULY ABLE TO PROVIDE EXCELLENT CARE for him and will make a lifelong commitment to keeping Einstein safe, well-cared for and loved. Animals have feelings too, KITTENS ARE NOT A NOVELTY and rescued animals in particular having being given up, or abandoned once again, can cause a setback in their behaviour and make it all the more difficult to find yet another home. We find this happens when people adopt a cute kitten, only to return them as a grown adult because they no longer are interested in having a full-time responsibility past the kitten stage.

This is not fair to the animal, so please have already thought this through before applying for Einstein. Our goal is to place all of our cats into responsible and loving FOREVER homes.

I'm at ♫ CatzJazz.org ♫!

Einstein's estimated D.O.B. is Feb 28, 2011
Dated added: 5/24/11 Photos current as of: 5/24/11

Einstein has passed a vet exam, is up-to-date with age-appropriate vaccinations, has been treated for any medical needs, given preventative treatment for internal parasites/fleas, has tested negative for FeLV/FIV and is litter-box trained. Now he just needs a forever home!

Please note: We DO NOT advocate "pediatric spay/neuter" (defined as starting between six to eight weeks young or anything earlier than 4 to 6 months) due to KNOWN medical and health complications that could arise from performing alter surgeries on cats before their hormones are mature enough. We do of course promote the importance of spaying and neutering, participate in community education and absolutely advocate the spay/neuter of ALL companion animals and therefore strictly enforce spay/neuter contracts on our adopted kittens when they become mature enough. Adopters are encouraged to visit any vet they are comfortable with as long as the procedure is done and a copy of receipt of the surgery is supplied to Catz Jazz within the discussed and agreed time frame.

Please be advised that interested adopters go through a careful screening process to include reference checks, telephone interviews, in-person interview and home visits. It is our responsibility to ensure that the kitty's adopting family will always be committed to taking care of the adopted animal not just during it's cute phases but during unpleasant situations as well - if and when health or behavior problems develop over time (and they may), and that the cat is not being adopted on an impulse or will be discarded if their human gets tired of them. We genuinely care about the lives we have saved and want our rescued cats to to end up in a great forever home… our mechanism of careful screening is there to increase the chances of this happening. Be prepared for a thorough interview and really be SURE that you are ready to make a lifetime commitment and to emotionally, physically and financially support a companion animal through rain or shine.

Baby, let's paint the town! Donate a Kuranda cat bed
Donate a Kuranda Bed to Catz Jazz Rescue

If you can't adopt Einstein, would you consider donating a Kuranda cat bed to him while he waits for his forever person to find him?

Our rescued cats love to sleep on Kuranda cat beds because of their orthopedic comfort and we love them because they are stackable, allowing high perches for shy cats while increasing the amount of floor space, but due to our already constricted operating budget, we just don't have enough for everyone to sleep on.

When you donate a Kuranda cat bed to us, you will give an Austin rescue cat a place to sleep in comfort and have a bed to dream on while they patiently wait for their forever home.

We also gratefully accept donations of much-needed items from our
Catz Jazz Wish List.

Thank you so much for helping us out.

Any donation, no matter how small is a big help and is greatly appreciated.

♥ Help Chris get treatment! ♥

URGENT!! A RESCUE VOLUNTEER NEEDS EMERGENCY HELP! Please help our wish for him to come true.

A husband, father, brother, friend, and neighbor who lives in our community, is in dire need of our immediate help! At the beginning of July 2010, Chris Blankinship, a trusted and caring volunteer with Catz Jazz Rescue, was diagnosed with an Anaplastic Astrocytoma (grade III). This is a rare (about 4% of the population), life-threatening, rapidly-growing, malignant tumor. Due to the nature of this specific tumor and it's location, the only available treatment possibilities are very limited clinical trials (experimental treatments) for chemo and radiation treatment possibilities that will easily exceed the tens of thousands of dollars mark. We believe that with prayers, positive energy and strong willpower, and the financial help from compassionate supporters who are sympathetic to his plight, we can give Chris a chance to opt for those treatment possibilities, but time is of the essence! Any donation, no matter how small is a big help and is so greatly appreciated by his friends and family. We humbly ask for your support. Can you please help?
