Bertie's Story...
Bertie is a 6 year old spaniel mix who we rescued from a local shelter. She is a lovely adult dog who is very well-behaved and completely housebroken. She is affectionate and playful. She has been wonderful for bathes and brushing and really loves a good belly rub. She has been spayed, vaccinated, deflead, dewormed, and is on routine monthly heartworm and flea preventative. We couldn’t leave this wonderful girl in the shelter when she would make such a wonderful family pet! Bertie has shown mild jealous aggression towards another dog in one of her foster homes, however this improved significantly with time and patience and cautious introductions. She has been fine with other dogs on walks or at the vet's office.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Bertie, a Blacksburg Springer Spaniel dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Springer Spaniel for sale in Blacksburg, or seeking a Springer Spaniel dog from a breeder in Blacksburg.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Blacksburg already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Blacksburg breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Springer Spaniel breeders who help with Springer Spaniel rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Blacksburg paves the way for another one to be saved.
