Fly's Info...

I am purebred and good with cats.

Fly's Story...
"FLY" - this purebred Border Collies came into the Upper Valley Humane Society with her son Tippy. Tippy was placed by them, and Fly came into rescue.

She is 2 years old and has not yet been spayed - she'll be spayed before placement. She has lots of herding drive and doesn't know how to play fetch. She runs the fence trying to chase cars.

Fly is very social and friendly, but very sensitive, as Border Collies often are, and somewhat skittish. She seems to need a lot of reassurance and would probably benefit from a basic obedience class that uses positive reinforcement. She is a dominant female with other dogs, and guards resources, but is good with cats and very affectionate with people.

Fly has just come into rescue and we are still evaluating her. She is being fostered in New Hampshire and will not be available until after the first of the year, but we will begin taking applications for her now.

You MUST first fill out an adoption application.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Fly, a Stephentown Border Collie dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Border Collie for sale in Stephentown, or seeking a Border Collie dog from a breeder in Stephentown.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Stephentown already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Stephentown breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Border Collie breeders who help with Border Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Stephentown paves the way for another one to be saved.
