Little Lou-Lou (aka Lucy) is a sweet heart.
She has basenji colors, but is definitely a whippet blend. She has all the good qualities of a whippet -- sleek and speedy, and makes an excellent family pet. They are gentle, affectionate, friendly, and easygoing
She can be a bit mischievous but at about 8 months old, she is already settling down. Lou-Lou is a very active puppy and she is also really smart so a good firm “no” when she gets too playful always works. She learns really, really fast!.
Lou-Lou is definitely a people-dog who wants to be with you, but I work all day, too, and she is fine with my other dogs and never gets into any trouble. If you go to the store, expect an exuberant welcome home ten minutes later. loves to curl up beside you on the couch and sleep with you in your bed, under the covers.
She needs regular exercise, and likes to run. She comes when she is called, so she is great at dog parks, and she LOVES to swim – take her dog beach and she’ll be happy as a clam! She LOVES the water and will swim with you like a fish! The hose, sprinklers -- anything that gets water on her makes her happy. She would be perfect for anyone who likes to go the beach and/or run with their dog.
Lou-Lou (like all whippets and whippet blends) has an affinity for children. She is wonderful with kids – in fact, her foster home has two little boys and a cat and she is really great with all of them.
In general, whippets are a very quiet breed. They are highly intelligent and trainable and have excelled in obedience, fly ball, agility, rally, lure coursing, and straight racing -- basically anything you ask her to do, she'll do, as she is very eager to please. She is housebroken, understands most commands and loves her bones – she absolutely has to have something in her mouth all the time, so she loves playing with her toys and chew toys are the best!
Lou-Lou is lively and alert, but not high-strung. She is completely house trained and behaves great in the house, but can get a little too excited when she first sees you.
She is wonderful with all of my other dogs – big and small – and is fine with kitties, as long as the kitties hold their own. I do cat rescue, too, so she is always around a lot of kitties.
Lou-Lou is funny, clever, playful, sensitive and always loving.
She is spayed and perfectly, wonderfully healthy and a very, very happy girl. She is not the alpha dog in any situation.
Her health is great, and her adoption covers everything – she is very fun little 1 year old and will make a great buddy for an active family.
