My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**Please note: we do not have a physical location, we are supported by a network of wonderful foster homes that are spread throughout New England. A dog will need to be visited by a prospective adopter in the foster home where they are feeling safe and comfortable.**

Here is an update from her foster mom: "Tracie is approx 10 months old now (as of July 2011). She will not grow much larger so she's a great size but is still graced with a beautiful puppy face and energy! Tracie is completely housebroken and is crate-trained, though she doesn't even need it when her humans aren't home as long as small fun-looking objects are out of reach. She especially will find writing instruments like crayons, pencils, toys and especially paper!

Tracie's favorite things are chewing on rawhide, running like the wind and sticking her head out the window of a car (I know this is not good practice, but she looks so happy!). Tracie is a great companion dog and loves to follow me everywhere - inside and outside. She can still be anxious in some new situations and meeting new people is something we ease into. Tracie does not enjoy swimming (will walk into the water, but dislikes actual swimming), loud events like fireworks and outdoor music, though I have been able to take her to these types of events if we keep a good distance and I provide her reassurance). Tracie does bark but is good with familiar sounds like the mailman, and will respond to "quiet". The bark is an alert bark, NOT incessant. She would not be a good placement for an apartment dweller, as she may bark when you are away and you wouldn't be there to correct the behavior.

Tracie is good with other dogs, children, and continues to pay no attention to cats. I have been able to take her with me to work -- an environment where she needs to be able to meet new people, stay calm and lay down for an extended amount of time. She is happy to do all of this as long as she can be with someone she trusts.

Tracie knows several commands and is a very well behaved dog! At this point Tracie has mastered "sit" and "down". Tracie will "stay" if you are right next to her, so now we are working on getting her to stay if you walk away. Tracie lays in her bed, next to mine, all night.
