My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Chance is a sable and white, purebred border collie. He is about 1 year old (DOB 6/28/10). He was originally purchased from a breeder and his family decided that they could not handle him. They gave him to another family that intended to help find him a good home. After a couple of months without luck, they asked if we could take him into our rescue.

Chance had very little training when he first arrived at our home. All of that BC energy & intelligence was being put to less than desireable behaviors. He has learned quite a few lessons on how to be a good family member in the past few weeks. He knows sit, down, wait, off and will go into his crate on command. He walks very nicely on a leash and takes treats very gently. He has responded extremely well to clicker training. He has improved greatly with his impulse control and will wait until released to eat food that is put in his dish.

Chance is a high-energy, high-drive border collie that will need continuing training and a job to do. He would excel in agility, frisbee, flyball and other dog sports. I don't know very much about herding, but Chance definitely shows the BC herding instinct in the way he moves and plays with our other dogs.

Chance will do best in an active family without small children. If there are other dogs in the family, they will need to be tolerant of his puppy antics. Chance is a wonderful dog looking for the right family.

Chance is being fostered in Indiana
