Ashley's Story...
Mary Kate and Ashely are wonderful, sweet, affectionate sisters whose time it is for a home of their own.

They were born outside, but were rescued when they were a few weeks old. Because they are so attached to each other their rescue mom wanted to keep them together. Unfortunately no one wanted two girls that kitten season, and like all cats do they grew up and now each year they watch the new kittens get adopted but they are sitll in foster care.

If you can find it in your heart to give these girls a home, they would make a wonderful addition to your family.

Rescue Group Info...

About Our Rescue Group...
OnebyOne is a registered 501c3 not-for profit cat rescue made up of a group of animal loving, dedicated, tireless volunteers in Central/South NJ. We are NOT a shelter. Our focus is to rescue stray, abandoned, homeless cats and kittens. Once each cat is in our care they are vaccinated, neutered/spayed and given any and all medical attention they need. Each cat is fosted in a wonderful home, nurtured and loved until we are able to find each one their forever home.

Another focus of our group is TNR* (trap, neuter, return). In an effort to help reduce over crowding in state shelters and minimize the outdoor feral cat population in NJ, OnebyOne is not only providing hands on help, but also providing education and rescourecs to help people who want to get involved in their own backyard or their community.

All of the animals listed for adoption on our page have at one time been either strays or were rescued from the state shelters, some of them within hours of impending euthanasia.

The ultimate goal of OnebyOne goal to both prevent the birth of more homeless animals and to find families for all those who want them. Because of foster space limitations, we do place mostly cats, but you will find the occasional dog listing here, as we courtesy post for fellow trusted Rescuers in the NJ area.

Please note: WE DO NOT BREED KITTENS!!! If there are kittens listed for adoption at any time on this page, they were rescued.

OnebyOne is lucky enough to maintain a foster network throughout NJ . We work closely with our fosters, other rescues, and various shelters to place these rescued cats and dogs in loving forever homes.

OnebyOne does not receive any funding. The only way we can continue to rescue and help these precious animals is your donations. Food, litter, petsmart/costo gift cards, laundry detergent, paper towels are always needed.

Our Adoption Process...
Our process is simple if you are a loving home. We require an application with a vet reference, note that we will be calling your current vet to confirm all information. A volunteer from OnebyOne will also do a house check before allowing the cat to be adopted.
Some individuals may deem this process excessive, however, pls note that our Founder has been rescuing animals for over 25 years and has seen too much too allow any cat/kitten we rescue to go to a home that we are unsure of. Our cats are our priority and we take that responsibility seriously.
We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
Our rescue efforts and foster homes are centered around Central/South New Jersey. Specifically in Barnegat, Stafford, Manahawkin and LBI. We also rescue and adopt cats from Staten Island, NY.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Ashley, a Barnegat Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Barnegat, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Barnegat.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Barnegat already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Barnegat breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Barnegat paves the way for another one to be saved.
