Umbrella Cockatoo
fostered by Amanda & Ron of Fernandina Beach, FL

Lucy is a 6 year old umbrella cockatoo whose former owners loved her very much. Lucy was relinquished because the owners were not able to provide the attention they felt she deserved and made the very difficult decision to put her up for adoption, so she is now being fostered through FPR. We just took her to the vet for a checkup, nail and beak trimmings included and she passed with flying colors! She is a very healthy bird! She seems to get along with other animals without complaining including dogs and other birds. Her favorite thing to do is to cuddle with you and she loves having her head scratched. She prefers the shoulder so we are working on trying to get her to understand that the lap is a better option for a large bird. Lucy does love everybody, kids included! She can be loud at times of course, which is normal for this species. She does talk some, she says "pretty bird", "what ya doing" and a few other things. Please remember that this species of bird can live up to 80 years, so you must be commited to providing a life time to this bird if you decide to adopt.
