My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

JD is being adopted this week! Yippee for JD! (8.7.11)

JD checked into Camp 6/21. We expect him to be a terrier/beagle mix. He is about 16 months old & weighs 45 lbs. JD knows basic commands like sit, drop it, down, and walks well on a leash both solo & with other dogs. He is an extremely submissive boy & will cower if yelled at, or even use a loud voice in reprimanding him, then he will high-tail it to the mansion (his wire kennel). We assume his previous owners were too harsh with him. Yet, JD does not get defensive in the slightest, he only aims to please & wants love & praise from his people. He is a quick learner, ooh, & he's housetrained. He is neutered, he is current on his vaccinations, & heartworm negative.

JD loves his toys. Whether it's a stuffed toy, a rope toy, or a ball, he is excited everytime he comes upon one of them & will grab a' hold of it eagerly then prance around like a pony. A ball will fascinate him, too, even if there's no one to play fetch with him. Merrick bones & Nylabones are also a welcomed item for him. He can entertain himself for hours if there are 3 or 4 in the toy box. When he finishes chewing on one, he'll go back to the toy box for another & go to the nearest dog bed or to his kennel to enjoy more chewing. For TV time, JD --if invited-- will join us on the sofa, lying down with whatever toy he has, & stretch out for some R&R.

This bundle of butt-waggin' love is an owner surrender. They were moving & refused to take him with them. But that just gives us one more to love while he finds his very own furever family who will be committed to loving & caring for him for all his live-long days! JD enjoys cuddle time & is quick to rollover onto his back for a belly rub. His submissive nature adds to the "awwwww!" factor of JD, which is the first expression out of one's mouth when meeting him. He's just that cute & there's no other way to put it.

JD loves other dogs, he loves being chased by them, he doesn't mind if they decide to bite at him & tackle him, & he absolutely loves his people, too. JD has yet to meet a stranger in his young life. Upon new people arriving, he will be excited yet timid then quickly switches to love & attention-seeking. He has been kid tested, being around older children & toddlers alike with no issues.

Our newest Camper, JD, lives with 5 foster sisters & a brother. He is not food aggressive or toy aggressive. They all eat side-by-side with no bickering or growling. JD enjoys picking up the food bowls & bringing them to us after everyone has finished. Currently we're training him to stack them up so they're ready to put away! We have taken bones away from JD without a problem although he does enjoy a game of tug-of-war with the bone or a rope toy. When he is enjoying his Nylabone, which he is in love with, he will bring it to another dog & drop it for them. They aren't very interested in playing with him or taking his bone, thus he will lie down beside them & continue to chew on his first love, the Nylabone.

JD is crate trained for sleepy time & work time. The first night with us, he howled--yes, howled--a long, low, lonesome howl for a few minutes after being put in his crate. It's just him saying good night & it is a lovely howl that he has, not loud enough to be obnoxious or awake the sleeping. It sure beats yapping! His second night with us, JD walked into his crate with his Nylabone & did no howling. Sad for us since we enjoyed his sweet, soulful singing.

If you are interested in making JD your new best friend, please email for an application, campchaos37206@gmail.com. We will send to you by email, review it asap upon receiving it (within 24-48 hours max), then set up a time for you to meet him (when application is approved).

Adoption fee is $90. Thank you for wanting to share your home with one of our rescued pups!

If you are a parent adopting for your children, please remember we do pick the best home for our pups. If there are 2 applications that come in at the same time, for example, and one will be a better fit, that is the one we choose. Many parents pump up their children about getting a specific puppy, and it can be very sad for the child if the particular puppy isn't a good fit unbeknownst to them. We put this disclaimer here because a couple of parents have been upset when a home that used doggy daycare & had a fenced in yard was chosen over crate-all-day without a backyard. Peace.
