My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATED BIO 8/20/11: It's me, Jezebel! Just wanted to say hi and let everyone know I am FINALLY getting spayed this week and having my toofers cleaned. I am still being fostered in Miami, FL and I'm still 4 years old and 7.8 lb. I am doing very well. My skin on my tummy is almost all healed. Thanks to everybody who has supported me!

UPDATED BIO 08/07/2011: Jezebel is an adorable 4.5 year old 8 lb little girl who is being fostered in Miami, FL. Jezebel keeps us guessing. One minute we think she'd be better off as an only dog. One minute she is playing with Chelsey, her foster fursister. We can't figure her out. Maybe she still has those pregnancy hormones running around! :) All we know is that IF Jezebel is adopted to a family with another dog, it must be a laid back (but playful is OK) dog in the greater Miami/Broward area. If she is adopted as an only dog, we will consider adoption applications from further away.

Jezebel loves walks and loves meeting other dogs and people. She can bark but only if she hears noises outside. She loves belly rubs and loves her food! She's finally at a good weight. No more spine and ribs sticking out. Her skin is still healing. The vet says she should be ready for her spay in 2-3 weeks. This little girl is a lover and is learning what play is - both with toys and other dogs. She loves to sleep on the bed with you and has come so far from the dog she was when we rescued her. It's a true rags to riches story. Could you be a part of her happily ever after?

UPDATED BIO 07/04/2011: Hi, my name is Jezebel. I am about 4.5 years old and now weigh 7.8 lbs. I was pregnant when UYR rescued me from the shelter all covered in sticks, twigs, and parasites. I lost my babies last week, and am still getting over it. My belly is covered in a fungal and bacterial infection, and my FM is putting medicine on it to make me feel better. I also take my antibiotic medicine like a champ. I like to go for short walks and would prefer to potty outside. I give FM clues when I have to go.... like I pant and pace when I have to potty. Aren't I smart?

Well, I am going to need treatment for my deep skin infection for at least a few weeks. In the meantime, FM said she will start accepting applications for me. I told her I'd like a home where I can be a pretty princess. I love my fluffy bed. I don't seem to NEED other dogs. I'd prefer to hang out on your lap. Is that OK? A backyard with a fence is ALWAYS a bonus, but I'm doing OK in a condo. Could I be the girlie for you?

UPDATED BIO 06/25/2011: Jezebel is a sweet 4-5 year old 9 lb (while pregnant) yokie who was rescued when she was very pregnant. She is due any day and we estimate her healthy non-pregnant weight is around 7 lb. Though she is eventually going to be up for adoption, we are not currently accepting applications for Jezebel as we are unable to assess her personality while she is pregnant. She has a severe skin infection over her abdomen which will limit her ability to nurse her puppies. We are hopefully going to have the assistance of a yorkie from an owner whose babies didn't make it. Please stay tuned for updates on Jezebel and keep your fingers crossed for a healthy delivery.

INITIAL BIO 06/22/2011: Jezebel is a 9 lb, 4-5 year old gorgeous little yorkie girl who was rescued from a shelter where she was found as a stray. Poor Jezebel was found living out on her own, covered in ticks and fleas with matted fur, and is very underweight. Her "before" photo shown was after two baths and a lot of cutting out of matting. Jezebel also has a deep pyoderma (skin infection) over her abdomen. This poor neglected girlie is also pregnant and is carrying three babies who (by our vet's best estimate) should be arriving in the next week or so. We are working hard to try to help both mom and pups get as strong and healthy as possible before delivery so that all four of them have a fighting chance. She has a healthy appetite, and we are working closely with our rescue vet to get her the best therapy that is also safe for the puppies. We estimate mom's non-pregnant weight is around 7 lbs.

Jezebel is housetrained and is sweet (though uncomfortable with her large belly and infected skin). We are praying for this girl that all goes well and her yorkie or yorkie mix puppies stay safe. With her skin infection, there is a chance these babies will need bottle feeding. We'll know more in a few days.
