My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Trixie is a wonderfully sweet, 3 year old Samoyed X who was rescued from a neglectful situation. She is now looking for a loving family to give her a forever home. We do not have any history on her first year of life, but in her last home (where she lived for the last 2 years) she was highly neglected. Her life entailed living on the end of a rope with no access to proper shelter, although she was often able to escape from the elements by hiding under a truck.

Despite the neglectful life that Trixie lived previously, she is amazingly well adjusted to humans and to life as a family pet. She is very affectionate, and likes to follow her foster family where ever they go. She very much wants to be loved! She is incredibly observant, and watches her fellow foster dogs interact with the cats and the humans and then mimicks what she sees. She loves other dogs and will benefit enormously from a home with a doggy playmate. She does have a lot of energy to burn (time to make up for spending years on a chain!) so she would benefit from being in a home with a younger, playful dog that can keep up with her.

Trixie does have a strong prey-drive and she loves to chase birds that land in the yard, and the chickens in the coop (but not in a good way!) Therefore, Trixie should not go to a home where there are small exotic animals or farm foul like chickens or ducks. Because Trixie lived on a chain her whole life she just loves to run, therefore she needs a fully fenced yard, and at this time, she cannot be let off leash. Trixie is starting to learn manners like sit and stay, but she had no previous training. Therefore, enrollment in a beginner dog socialization/training class will be a requirement for a successful adoption.

Trixie is currently in a foster home with teenage children and another dog about her size. This is what her foster mom says about Trixie:

Trixie is a very sweet and loyal dog. She loves attention more the anything! She's very affectionate and has an easy-going personality. Trixie loves other dogs and plays with them well. She came house-broken; she's never had an accident. The more belly rubs and head pats she can get the happier she is. Trixie is good for walks on leash and interacting with other people/animals. She loves kids! Her personality is very quiet in nature. She is a fast learner and she knows how to shake a paw... even when your not asking her to! She can be vocal when she gets excited and wants to play but she is very quick to stop talking once asked. She would be best suited for an active household. She loves hiking and running. Trixie over-heats quickly with her long coat but believe it or not she barley sheds a hair! Her other favorite thing is to curl up in the back yard under some shade or snuggle up in bed with you. She is a very happy and content girl who will easily adjust into any new home.
